ATTENTION: Due to moose population declines in parts of the state, some units may see significant reductions in permits or be closed. Total number of permits to be issued and WMU allocation will not be finalized until late April 2014. For the best chance of being offered a permit, you should rank all units. Application Fees:  Resident = $15.00

  • Non-Resident= $25.00
  • Moose Lottery Applications are Non-Refundable.
  • Only one application per person shall be entered into the lottery or to accrue a point.
  • You do not need a NH hunting license to apply to the NH Moose Lottery.  However, bonus points are tracked via an applicant’s Driver’s License or State-issued Non-Driver ID Number, therefore, applicants must provide THEIR own Driver’s License or State-issued Non-Driver ID Number.

Online Customers

To buy licenses and permits online (this does not apply to Moose Lottery or HIP survey), you will have to do a customer search by entering your last name, date of birth (make sure you enter a 4 digit year) and one of the following:  a previous N.H. license number (year 2000 or later); a driver’s license number or a N.H. Hunter Education certificate / Bow Safety certificate (year 2000 or later).  There may be a delay of as much as 3 months after taking our course for hunter or bow safety before the information is in our file.  If not found you will have an opportunity to enter your information.  When entering your personal information, enter your legal name as it appears on your driver's license. Please note:  in order to purchase a hunting or archery license you must have held a hunting or archery license or taken hunter safety or bow safety in NH from the year 2000 or later.  This allows us to confirm that hunters meet the hunter education requirements.  Otherwise you will need to purchase your license at a traditional license agent; a list is on the NH Fish and Game website  You will not be able to buy a license at Wal-Mart either as they use the same type of online system. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Note: Hunting and fishing licenses are legal documents intended to be purchased by the licensee. Refunds will not be granted for duplicate licenses purchased by others. The online license program is NOT checking to see if you already have purchased your license for the current year – that is the applicant’s responsibility.

A $3 internet transaction fee will be charged for each purchase, in addition to the license or permit cost. This does not apply to Moose Lottery Applications. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover for the payment of license fees.

A Note about Refunds:   Please be aware that there is no provision within state law that provides the Department with the authority to refund license monies. It is the Department's policy not to issue refunds for licensee errors. For program system error, please contact the Department for review and consideration. Any amount refunded will be less $1 per license type, a 2.25% credit card fee, and $3 transaction fee. Only one application shall be entered in the lottery, Moose Lottery Applications are NOT refundable.
