Active Outdoors collects information in several ways from different parts of our web site, or the sites of our Partners. Some personal information is gathered when you purchase our license products as required by related state laws or state wildlife and park agencies. This data must be sent to the appropriate state agencies. State agencies maintain a copy of your record in their database.

In addition, we may ask you for personal information at other times, including (but not limited to) when you use our permit application process or purchase your boat registration. If you contact Active Outdoors, we may keep a record of that correspondence. Active Outdoors also occasionally asks users to complete surveys.

Cookies can be used in web sites to store and sometimes track information about you. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. As such your personal account can be accessed, and customizable services can be offerred and provided.

Active Outdoors primary goal in collecting personal information is to fulfill the requirement of state wildlife and park agencies in license applications. Our second goal is to provide our users with a better experience on our site, or our Partners' sites. This includes personalized services, technical support, interactive communications and other services. By knowing a little about you, Active Outdoors is able to deliver more relevant content and better service to you. From time to time, you may receive customized reminders, messages and offers via e-mail from Active Outdoors or state agencies according to agreements between Active Outdoors and state agencies. Active Outdoors also does research on our users' demographics, interests, and behavior based on the information provided to us upon a purchase transaction, during a promotion, from our server log files or from surveys. We do this to better understand and serve our users. This research is compiled and analyzed on an aggregated basis. Active Outdoors may share this aggregated (non-personal) data with States or business partners, but it is important to understand that no personally identifiable information is shared without your consent. When you visit Active Outdoors or a Partner site and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with Active Outdoors and the state agency alone, unless specifically stated otherwise. Please be aware that the web site of our advertisers or web sites that have links on our site or our Partners sites may independently collect personally identifiable information about you. The practices and policies of such web sites are not covered by this privacy statement.

As a general rule, Active Outdoors will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it or under the circumstances described below. Active Outdoors does not sell or rent specific user information (personally identifiable information) to anyone. The following describes some of the ways that your information may be disclosed.

Active Outdoors may also disclose account information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating Active Outdoors User Agreement or may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) Active Outdoors rights or property, other Active Outdoors users, Active Outdoors clients, Active Outdoors Partners, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities. Active Outdoors may disclose or access account information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it and for administrative and other purposes that we deem necessary to maintain, service, and improve our products and services.

Active Outdoors may, from time to time, send you elective e-mails regarding our products and services. In addition, if we have an agreement with a state agency that allows Active Outdoors to occasionally send you direct mail about products and services that we believe may be of interest to you, we may do so. Only Active Outdoors (or agents working on behalf of Active Outdoors and under confidentiality agreements) will send you these direct mailings and only if you indicated that you do not object to these offers. We'll include a way, such as an "unsubscribe" link, so that you may elect not to receive future offers.

Information collected through purchase of license products will be sent to involved state agencies, and we'll keep a copy in our database for future purchases. If you want to update or correct the information stored in our database, access the state of interest and begin the sale process.

Keeping your personal financial information private is important to us. As with all personally identifiable information, Active Outdoors does not rent or sell your personal financial information. Knowing that you use certain services or features may help us to offer you better and more relevant content. But as with all personally identifiable information, we do not make this available to any third parties without your permission. Any user statistics that we may provide to prospective advertisers or partners regarding financial product or service usage on Active Outdoors are provided in the aggregate only and do not include any personally identifiable information about any individual user. Any time we collect a credit card number we transmit that credit card number in an encrypted format. We use industry-standard, SSL (secure socket layer) encryption.

We take additional security measures to protect your information from being misused. For example, to search by a user's name or social security number, we require that the date of birth must also be matched.

Ultimately, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and/or any account information.
